Carpal Tunnel

Chiropractic techniques that work so well with the spine can be applied to other joints in the body. Virtually every joint is susceptible to fixations and malfunctions that impair function and range of motion. Trauma, micro-traumas, vibrations and repetitive motions are often culprits.

What is the carpal tunnel? The carpal tunnel is a band of ligaments and small bones in your wrist. There is a nerve called the median nerve that runs through this 'tunnel.. Painful symptoms can result when this nerve is compressed by a collapse of this nerve "tunnel.'

Many times carpal tunnel is mis-diagnosed. Many are surmised to learn that the cause of their wrist problem may be due to functional changes to one or more joints of the neck, shoulder, elbow or wrist. Subluxations/misalignments in the upper spine can compromise the workings of any structure between it and the tip of your littlest finger. This is often called the double crush syndrome.

Signs and Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel:

  • Noctumal pain/paresthesia of hand
  • Pain is sharp/burning/numbness/tingling in the thumb, index finger, and thenar eminence
  • Hand weakness
  • Pain is worse with manual activity

There are many procedures that chiropractic can do to help with this condition. Many people Mink that surgery is the only option to help with carpal tunnel, but in reality it is not. Over 50% of carpal tunnel surgeries fail and on some occasions get worse. People need to realize that there are non-invasive protocols that can help these people with their pain.
